The Present Moment: An Inspirational Poem

present moment

The present moment is more alive than the past.

The present moment, as small and brief
as it may seem…
a blink of an eye,
a flap of a butterfly’s wing,
is so much bigger than our biggest fears,
and more real than
every doubt we’ve ever entertained…

It’s more alive than our past can ever be,
and the only place
full of the empty spaces
where the only limit is our imagination.

don’t let the present moment get away

present moment

The present moment is the only place where we really are,
and we have so much to lose
if we let it get away.
It is only now that anything is possible,
and second chances are available.
This is the window of time where choices can be made
and opportunities are on the table.

But we think we have time.
That there’s always tomorrow.
We wait for the perfect moment to act
and in truth there’s no such thing.
Because what we do now affects
what we can do with the next moment…
 and  becomes the direction
we are going…

“Forever is composed of nows” Emily Dickson

present moment

If we are still holding off
for the right time,
to follow our dreams,
to tell someone
that we love them,
to make peace with our God,
then the right time is always
escaping our grasp.

Alan Watts (1915-1973) British-American philosopher/theologian
“I have realized that the past and future are real illusions, that they exist in the present, which is what there is and all there is.”

This moment is fleeting
and it waits no one.
In a blink of an eye,
it’s gone.
If we get left behind,
enough times
one day we will wake up
to half the person
we could have become.

take this moment and run with it

present moment

The next opportunity
does not care who takes it,
Success does not play favorites.
It’s up to us to take
this moment and run with it.

“Jesus said, ‘No procrastination. No backward looks. You can’t put God’s kingdom off till tomorrow. Seize the day.’” (Luke 9:62 MSG)

Let’s stand in the space
where we can feel the
wind on our face
and hear the sound of our hearts beating.
The everlasting pause
where God is breathing,
and His acts of excellence
are working and delivering our blessings.

present moment

In the present moment
our fears and worries, cannot  survive,
and the part of us that is limitless, fearless and free
can come to life.

This moment,
as small and brief as it may seem,
a flap of a butterfly’s wing,
is infinite and more powerful
than we can imagine.
We have so much to gain
if we run with it.
